How do I clean reclaimed wood furniture?

A smart solution is to purchase our pre-made Amish Furniture Cleaning Kit, filled with the same products we use and trust to clean wood furniture. View our educational articles to learn more about solid wood furniture care.

Is reclaimed wood furniture safe?

Yes, the wood is hauled to the lumber handling yard where it undergoes an extensive cleaning and drying process. Nails are marked and removed, and the wood is placed under a metal detector, then stacked for drying. Then, the salvaged hardwood is kiln-dried to 7% moisture. Reclaimed wood is a green way to preserve precious American hardwood and give it a second life.

What should I know when purchasing reclaimed wood furniture?

Things like wood grains, knots, small patches, pitting, small nail holes and color streaking are characteristics that really set individual lumber and overall furniture pieces apart. Any variance that adds interest to the piece can be considered a plus for your home decor. Every piece of salvaged hardwood is different and cannot be replicated.
